SAN FRANCISCO (November 22, 2019)—The T-Mobile Winter Park at Civic Center celebrated the opening of its second annual season today with an official ceremony featuring remarks from California State Senator Scott Wiener, District 6 Supervisor Matt Haney, City Administrator Naomi Kelly, General Manager of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department Phil Ginsburg, and Senior Community Engagement Advisor at the San Francisco Police Department Derick Brown. German Wheel Artist Cornell Freeney and 2019 U.S. National Champion Alysa Liu dazzled the crowd with on-ice entertainment, and 100 local youth from San Francisco City Academy took to the ice for the first skate of the season.

“San Francisco’s Civic Center area has become a destination for locals and visitors alike, and Winter Park is the center of a whirlwind of holiday magic in the heart of San Francisco. Gliding on the ice amid twinkling lights just steps from City Hall and the Helen Diller Playground is an unforgettable experience,” said San Francisco Recreation and Park Department General Manager Phil Ginsburg.

To celebrate its return, The T-Mobile Winter Park is giving away special prizes every day of opening week! Guests can fill out an entry form at the ticket window and be entered to win a daily prize pack. Prizes include free souvenir photo packages, a night at the Cova Hotel, tickets to local shows and attractions, and more.

The T-Mobile Winter Park is open from 12–10 p.m. daily through January 5, 2020. Ticket prices for regular admission are $18 and $13 for children eight years old and under, with figure skate or hockey skate rental included in the cost of admission. Tickets can now be purchased online by visiting or by calling 415-757-0014, and are also available at the ice rink ticket window (355 McAllister St. in San Francisco). Group rates and private parties are available on the Corporate and Private Events page.

Modeled after the internationally-famed Wiener-project—an ice-skating rink located in the City Hall Square of Vienna, Austria—the winter wonderland debuted in San Francisco last year as the first attraction of its kind in the United States. For its sophomore holiday season, in addition to the 60 x 100 sq. ft. rink, the skating path that weaves through the lighted tree forest has also been extended. This is part of the planned expansion of The T-Mobile Winter Park, which will continue to evolve as an adventure park on ice with new interactive elements for the whole family added each year.

New to The T-Mobile Winter Park this year will be an opportunity for guests to create lasting photo memories during skating sessions. Storibox will provide a green screen with several options of festive backgrounds for guests to choose from, along with an on-site photo retail booth offering digital and print products. Photos with Storibox will be available daily November 22–December 1, 2019, and December 21, 2019–January 5, 2020, and on select weekend dates in December, December 7–8 and 14–15.
